Arsenal hero Kanu gives his verdict on Nigeria's last-gasp win vs Republic of Benin
Legendary Arsenal striker Nwankwo Kanu was delighted to see Nigeria pick up a late win against the Republic of Benin at the Stade Charles de Gaulle in Porto-Novo on Saturday evening.

The Atlanta 1996 gold medalist has labelled the win 'massive' and he may not be far from the truth despite the narrow margin of victory considering that the Squirrels were unbeaten at home in eight years before Racing Genk striker Paul Onuachu ended the streak with a goal in the third minute of stoppage time.

Kanu represented Nigeria in six Africa Cup of Nations, 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008 and 2010, and helped the Super Eagles reach the final in the competition hosted by Nigeria where they lost to Cameroon on penalties.

The 44-year-old is credited with 27 appearances in the Africa Cup of Nations proper and bagged four assists.

Giving his verdict after the game, Kanu took to social media to praise the the three-time African champions.

He wrote on Twitter : "Congratulations Congratulations 👏 my country people massive win. Up super eagles 💪💪🙏 we move @ng_supereagles #nigeria #africa #afcon #wemove  #thankgod".
