Five players of Nigerian descent promoted to Arsenal first team training pre-Liverpool
Published: March 31, 2021
Arsenal continued their preparations for the upcoming blockbuster Premier League clash against Liverpool with another training session held at London Colney on Tuesday.
Gunners manager Mikel Arteta invited five players of Nigerian descent to train with the first team.
Training pictures published by the official website of Arsenal confirm that fullback Tolaji Bola and Ryan Alebiosu, midfielder Miguel Azeez and striker Folarin Balogun were involved in the workout.
Arsenal youth team expert Jeorge Bird has informed that Nigerian-born midfielder Tim Akinola was also part of the session.
The decision of the Spanish football tactician to call up the promising Anglo-Nigerian youngsters is not surprising as many of their first team players are still on international duties with their respective nations.
Elegant midfielder Azeez was in the England U19 squad that thrashed Arsenal U23s 6-1 in a friendly, playing only the first half in the game staged at St George's Park National Football Centre on Saturday, March 27.
It is very likely that the aforementioned players will drop back to the U23s in the coming days.
