Samuel Chukwueze is seemingly in contention to play his first European final when Villarreal take on Manchester United in the Europa League final on Wednesday.
The Nigeria international is confirmed to have landed in GdaĆsk with the Villarreal first team players on Tuesday afternoon (see photo) ahead of the showdown against the Red Devils.
Despite the right winger making the provisional roster, it is not a foregone conclusion that he will be included in the matchday squad as he is struggling to overcome a muscle injury that he sustained during the first half of the goalless draw against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
Manager Unai Emery will wait until the last minute before deciding whether the Super Eagles star is fit to feature n the final.
Chukwueze has been one of the key players for the Yellow Submarine in the Europa League, with a goal involvement of five (1 goal, 4 assists) from eleven appearances in the competition.
The 22-year-old will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of John Obi Mikel and Victor Moses, who won the Europa League with Chelsea in 2013.
Another player of Nigerian descent in Shola Shoretire is with the Manchester United squad in Poland.
