Middlesbrough, Reading, QPR among clubs chasing signature of Arsenal academy product Aneke
Published: June 01, 2021
A plethora of English, Scottish and American clubs are chasing the signature of onetime Nigeria Football Federation target Chuks Aneke, according to reports.
TEAMtalk claims that the former England youth international has received offers from Middlesbrough, Reading, Coventry City, Queens Park Rangers and Bristol City, and unnamed clubs in Scotland and the United States are also interested in his services.
Aneke has given Charlton Athletic, his current club, the impression that he is not interested in extending his stay at the Valley.
A product of Arsenal academy, the striker has entered the final one month of his contract with The Addicks, whom he joined from Milton Keynes Dons in 2019.
One reason he wants to leave third-tier Charlton Athletic is that he wants to play in the Championship, which could offer him a route to the Premier League.
Aneke put in some excellent displays for Charlton in the recently concluded season, scoring 16 goals and assisting three others in 41 games.
The 27-year-old enjoyed loan spells at Stevenage, Preston North End and Crewe Alexandra during his time at Arsenal, before sealing a permanent transfer to Zulte Waregem in 2014.
