Manchester United's Nigeria-eligible teenagers miss out on awards

Nigeria-eligible teenagers Dillon Hoogewerf and Shola Shoretre have missed out on Manchester United's Goal of the Month and Premier League 2 Player of the Month respectively.
2003-born striker Hoogewerf was double-nominated for the monthly accolade for his efforts against Leeds
United and Middlesbrough, corresponding to United's last two games in
the U18 Premier League.
United announced on Wednesday afternoon that Uruguay marksman Edinson Cavani has claimed the Goal of the Month prize for his stunning strike against Fulham - the longest-range goal scored in the Premier League in the recently concluded season.
Hoogewerf is certainly knocking on the first team door after an outstanding season that saw him reach double figures for both goals and assists in the U18 Premier League.
Meanwhile, Manchester City wonderkid Liam Delap has been named the Premier League 2 Player of the Season for 2020-2021, beating Shoretire and six other promising youngsters to the annual prize.
The Anglo-Nigerian enjoyed a breakthrough season, in which he produced 10 goals and five assists in the Premier League 2 and won February's PL2 Player of the Month award.
Shoretire won Manchester United's Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year for the 2020-2021 season.
