Fulham confirm departures of Chelsea products Ola, Jordan Aina; three other Nigerian players
Published: June 04, 2021
Relegated Premier League club Fulham have confirmed their retained and released list following the end of the 2020-2021 season, with as many as five Nigeria-eligible players leaving the Cottagers.
The Aina brothers, Jordan and Ola, who are products of the Chelsea academy are among the players departing.
Wing-back Jordan Aina's contract which expires at the end of this month has not been renewed while the older Aina has returned to his parent club Torino.
Super Eagles defender Ola Aina did well on his return to England, making 31 starts in the Premier League, but Fulham did not even think about extending his stay following their demotion to the second-tier.
Nigeria hopeful Ademola Lookman (23) and Super Eagles striker Josh Maja (22) have returned to RB Leipzig and Bordeaux respectively ahead of the forthcoming season.
The fifth Nigerian youngster leaving Fulham is 19-year-old right-back Lesley Duru, who made eight starts in the Premier League 2 over the course of the 2020-2021 campaign.
The Amsterdam-born defender joined Fulham from Isthmian League South-East side Whyteleafe FC in October 2020 following a successful trial.
Meanwhile, U18 fullback Idris Odutayo is contracted to Fulham for next season having agreed a new deal.
