Dapo Mebude is hunting for a new club following his surprise release by Scottish Premiership champions Glasgow Rangers.

Rangers announced via their official website this week that the London-born Scotland youth international of Nigerian descent will leave the club upon expiry of his contract.

Mebude was one of the ten academy players released, the others being Daniel Finlayson, Nathan Young-Coombes, Jamie Barjonas, Zac Butterworth, Ciaran Dickson, Matthew Shiels, Harris O’Connor, Brian Kinnear and Nicky Hogarth.

Once regarded as one of the top talents at the Rangers academy, the Anglo-Scot-Nigerian played in the same age group as Billy Gilmour before the midfielder was sold to Chelsea in 2017.

Mebude spent the second half of last season on loan at Scottish Championship club Queen of the South, where he scored two goals in twelve appearances.

The 19-year-old is leaving Rangers after playing just once for the first team and it came against Kilmarnock FC in May 2019.

Dapo's younger brother, Adedire Mebude is on the books of Premier League champions Manchester City.
