Confirmed : 2014 Dream Team VI invitee joins 2. Bundesliga club SV Sandhausen
Published: June 29, 2021
Chima Okoroji has ended a three-year association with SC Freiburg by completing a permanent transfer to German 2. Bundesliga club SV Sandhausen.
There is no official information on the length of contract and wages over the duration of the deal.
In the past two seasons, the 24-year-old left-back spent time on loan at Jahn Regensburg and SC Paderborn.
A product of the Bayern Munich academy, Okoroji is eligible to represent three countries internationally, namely Nigeria, Germany and England, and was invited to a Nigeria U23 training camp by Samson Siasia in 2014.
"After the talks in Sandhausen with those responsible and the coaching team, I felt at home very quickly," Okoroji said to Sandhausen's official website.
"The first impression was familiar. It is exactly the environment that I imagined. That's why I decided to switch.
"I'm looking forward to hopefully playing in front of our fans here in the stadium soon."
Okoroji is the tenth new signing of SV Sandhausen for the 2021-2022 season after Christian Kinsombi (KFC Uerdingen), Cebio Soukou (Arminia Bielefeld), Gianluca Gaudino (Young Boys Bern), Carlo Sickinger (1.FC Kaiserslautern), Arne Sicker (MSV Duisburg), Immanuel Höhn (SV Darmstadt 98) , Bashkim Ajdini (VfL Osnabrück) and Oumar Diakhite (Eintracht Braunschweig) as well as goalkeeper Patrick Drewes (VfL Bochum).
