Teenage wonderkid Drake reacts after completing transfer to Manchester City Youth
Published: July 23, 2021
One of the most promising teenagers of Nigerian descent in England, Leke Drake has broken his silence after completing a big money move to Manchester City academy from Stevenage.
Manchester City have seen off competition from the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United to sign the talented center-back, The Mirror reported last month.
The Citizens have coughed up 450,000 pounds (around N312.8 million) to sign the Anglo-Nigerian defender.
Drake, who was playing for Stevenage's U13 team before he was acquired by Manchester City, is seemingly a fan of the Super Eagles as he follows them on social media.
Writing on Instagram on Thursday, Drake stated : "Pleased to announce I’ve signed for Man City on a long term deal, excited to be joining this great club! All thanks to God 🙏🏽 Ready to work hard.. Come On City! 🦈"
Drake will be aiming to follow in the footsteps of the Nmecha brothers and Nedum Onuoha who rose through the academy ranks before making their first team debuts for Manchester City.
He links up with Tai Sodje and Dire Mebude at the Manchester City academy.
