Brentford 2 Arsenal 0 : Onyeka gets standing ovation from Bees fans; Balogun makes EPL debut

Brentford caused an upset on the opening day of the new Premier League season by beating Arsenal 2-0 at at Brentford Community Stadium on Friday night.
Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka made his Premier League debut for the Bees and there was also a debut for Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun, who was in action for 59 minutes before making way for Bukayo Saka.
Spanish winger Sergi Canos became the first goalscorer of the 2021-2022 season when he broke the deadlock midway through the first half, firing a low effort that beat German goalkeeper Bernd Leno at the near post after a poor clearance by Chambers.
Balogun's penalty appeals were waved away by referee Michael Oliver after he dropped to the turf in the 32nd minute.
Eight minutes before half-time, the Arsenal number 26 unleashed an effort that sailed wide.
Christian Noergaard steered a header into the back of the net to double the home team's advantage in the 73rd minute following a long throw into Arsenal's box.
Brentford manager made his second change in the 80th minute, bringing on Mads Bidstrup to replace Onyeka and the impressive Nigerian was given a standing ovation by the home fans as went off the pitch.
Over the ninety minutes, Brentford deserved to win and they go into their next fixture against Crystal Palace full of confidence, while Arsenal have two difficult games coming up against Chelsea and Manchester City.
