2019 Golden Eaglets invitee makes competitive debut for Stoke City U18s vs Liverpool
Published: August 14, 2021
2019 Golden Eaglets invitee Iffy Udanoh has made his competitive debut for Stoke City youth teams, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Wearing the number five on the back of his jersey, Udanoh was named in the starting lineup as the Potters were beaten 5-3 by Liverpool in their U18 Premier League opener on Saturday afternoon.
Lasts season, the promising teenager was not included in any matchday squad after
suffering a relapse to his meniscus injury, the same ailment that
almost saw his move to Stoke City fall through even before he kicked a
ball.
Against Liverpool at the Academy Ground, Udanoh was on the pitch for 63 minutes before making way for George Lewis.
The Potters had a very bright opening, breaking the deadlock through Emre Tezgel in the second minute.
Melkamu Frauendorf equalised before half-time before goals from James Balagizi, Oakley Cannonier (2) and Lee Jonas saw them establish a four-goal lead.
Tezgel reduced the deficit on 81 minutes and bagged his hat-trick a minute from time.
