Genk-bound Ugbo sends message to Chalobah after Premier League debut goal for Chelsea
Published: August 14, 2021
One of the favorites to win this season's English Premier League title, Chelsea made a statement start after demolishing Crystal Palace 3-0 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.
Marcos Alonso curled a trademark free-kick to open the scoring on the half hour mark, and Christian Pulisic made it 2-0 when he pounced on a loose ball and put it away.
The third goal scored by the European champions and current UEFA Super Cup holders came from an unfamiliar source, Trevoh Chalobah, who capped a man-of-the-match display with a brilliant strike into the far corner.
The 22-year-old, who has been on the books of Chelsea since the age of eight, has spoken of his happiness at scoring on his Premier League debut against the Eagles.
Taking to Instagram, Chalobah posted : "No words can describe how I’m feeling right now, Jehovah is great".
Several Chelsea players, including Ike Ugbo who is close to completing a move to Racing Genk, have congratulated the academy graduate on scoring on his Premier League debut.
Ugbo and Chalobah were members of the Chelsea side that won the FA Youth Cup in the 2015-2016 season and helped the club retain the cup the following season.
Responding to Chalobah's post, the Super Eagles hopeful stated : "I'm not crying.you are man😭🤎".
