Official : Three Nigeria-eligible teenagers including Shoretire named in Man Utd PDP squad
Published: August 15, 2021
Premier League giants Manchester United confirmed their Professional Development Phase (PDP) squad before the start of the 2021-2022 season, with forty-nine players listed.
Three Nigeria-eligible teenagers in the shape of Dillon Hoogewerf, Shola Shoretire and Max Oyedele have been picked to represent United's youth teams in the new season.
The headline name on the roster, Shoretire, is expected to turn out for the Red Devils U21 and U23 teams but is availbel for first team matches if required.
The 17-year-old will wear the number 47 when on first team duties this term, switching from number 74 he wore on the back of his jersey in 2020-2021.
Netherlands youth international Hoogewerf, who turns 19 in February 2022, is expected to be fully promoted to United's U23 squad after predominantly playing and starring for the U18s last season.
While Shoretire and Hoogewerf are young professionals and eligible to be included on Manchester United's Champions League roster via the List B, Oyedele is a first-year scholar and will play for the U18s this season.
Manchester United U18s began their campaign with a loss to Manchester City yesterday and the U23s are in action later today when they take on Leicester City at Leigh Sports Village.
