Odubeko scores fabulous volley in West Ham United's loss to Brighton U23s
Published: August 21, 2021
Irish-Nigerian attacker Mipo Odubeko netted for the second game running in the Premier League 2 but could not prevent West Ham United from suffering a 4-2 away loss to Brighton & Hove at the Amex Elite Performance Centre on Friday evening.
The Super Eagles hopeful opened his account for the season in the Hammers' 6-1 demolition of Arsenal on matchday one.
Odubeko, Ajibola Alese and ex-Celtic starlet Armstrong Okoflex were all included in the starting XI by manager Dmitri Halajko and the trio put in a full shift.
The former Manchester United schoolboy who got the scoring started against Arsenal at the London Stadium did the same against the Seagulls after breaking the deadlock with a fabulous effort on the volley in the 17th minute.
Odubeko timed the volley perfectly leaving the goalkeeper with no chance to save the shot.
In the second half, Brighton & Hove scored four goals in the space of 23 minutes and Thierry Nevers reduced the deficit with a brilliant strike from 25 yards out.
West Ham United will host Chelsea at Rush Green on August 29 in their last match before the first international break of 2021-2022.
