Folarin Balogun breaks his silence after Arsenal's loss to Chelsea
Published: August 23, 2021
Anglo-Nigerian striker Folarin Balogun has broken his silence in the wake of Arsenal's 2-0 defeat to Chelsea in a Premier League fixture at the Emirtaes Stadium on Sunday evening.
The England youth international had not commented on social media since the Gunners made their worst start to a season in their 118-year history.
Mikel Arteta's record as Arsenal manager is now questionable following their dismal start to the season and the powers that be at the Emirates are reportedly lining up a move for former Chelsea manger Antonio Conte as the Spaniard's replacement in the hot seat if results don't improve.
Balogun was handed his Premier League home debut by Arteta against Chelsea, coming off the bench to replace the injured Gabriel Martinelli with eleven minutes left on the clock.
The 20-year-old has been getting minutes since the season began because several attack-minded players he's competing with for a place in the squad were sidelined including Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alex Lacazette, Eddie Nketiah and Willian, though the Gabon star passed a fitness test before the visit of the European champions.
Balogun looked dejected after the loss to their London rivals and was pictured being consoled by Arteta.
Writing on Instagram, Balogun said : "When times get tough, Don’t hide".
A graduate of Arsenal's Hale End Academy, Balogun extended his contract with Arsenal at the back end of last season.
