Ex-Nigeria U23 invitee scores last-gasp equaliser as Livingston snatch draw vs Ross County
Published: December 18, 2021
Former Nigeria U23 invitee Ayo Obileye netted for the second game running as Livingston and Ross County shared the spoils with a 1-1 draw in a Scottish Premiership clash at Tony Macaroni Arena on Saturday evening.
Livingston manager David Martindale's decision to keep the central defender up top proved to be a tactical masterstroke as he popped up with the equaliser to earn a draw for the Lions.
David Cancola curled the ball into the top corner from 25 yards to open the scoring for the visitors a minute into first half stoppage time.
But Ross County conceded an agonizing equaliser in the final seconds of the contest as Obileye headed in a brilliant delivery from James Penrice at the back post.
Having fired blanks in his first fourteen games in the Premiership, the former Chelsea schoolboy has now scored in back-to-back games for the first time since his move to Scotland in September 2020.
A central defender who is capable of playing as a defensive midfielder, Obileye finished with nine league goals last season at Queen of the South FC.
He trained with the Dream Team VI before their participation at the 2016 Olympic Games.
