Leicester City manager keeping his fingers crossed on availability of Ndidi vs Liverpool
Published: December 28, 2021Leicester City coach Brendan Rodgers is keeping his fingers on the availability of Wilfred Ndidi for his side's Premier League meeting with Liverpool on Tuesday night.
The Nigeria international has emerged as a doubt to face the Reds as he is recovering from a hamstring complaint, an ailment that kept him on the bench for the Boxing Day defeat to Manchester City.
Of the previous ten matches contested by Leicester City in all competitions before the trip to the Etihad Stadium, Ndidi was involved in all of them - nine of which he started.
Rodgers admitted that Ndidi being overused contributed to his hamstring injury but is hoping the defensive midfielder could be involved in some capacity against Liverpool.
"We couldn’t risk Vards or Wilf (at Man City). They had hamstring issues from the game the other day, so we put them on the bench, but we knew we weren’t really going to be able to use them," Rodgers said to Leicester's official webpage.
"There’ll be some changes but probably not like there has been over the last couple of seasons.
"It was too big a risk. They were suffering with tightness. Wilf has played a lot of football for us. He hasn’t had the chance to rest, so his hamstring is a little bit tight. "

He added : "Hopefully, they’ll be fine and recovered for Tuesday’s game."
Ndidi and his international teammate Kelechi Iheanacho are due to report for Super Eagles duty in Abuja after the Premier League meeting with Norwich City on January 1.
