Tottenham Hotspur loan out striker of Nigerian descent to League One club
Published: January 06, 2022
Cheltenham Town manager Michael Duff has confirmed that a deal is in place for Tottenham Hotspur striker of Nigerian descent Kion Etete to join the League One club on loan for the remainder of the season.
Etete was recently recalled from his loan spell at League Two club Northampton Town, for whom he made 23 appearances in all competitions and will continue his development at The Robins.
The highly-rated Anglo-Nigerian center forward has been inactive since November 27 after going off injured during the first half of a league game against Leyton Orient.
Cheltenham Town had been keeping tabs on Etete even during his spell on the sidelines, before getting a deal over the line.
"We have Kion Etete done," Duff said in an interview with GloucesterLive.
He added : "We are expecting him in on Monday, so he'll have done all his training at Tottenham and ready to train.
"Whether he's ready to start straight away we are not 100 per cent sure about that. But he hasn't been out for that long.
"He is a powerful lad, so it's not an uncommon injury for someone who plays the way he does."
Tottenham Hotspur signed Etete from Notts County in the summer of 2019 following a successful trial.
