Published: January 29, 2022
Versatile Anglo-Nigerian wing-back Tariq Uwakwe has said goodbye to everyone associated with Chelsea after his move to EFL League One club Crewe Alexandra was confirmed on Friday.
Uwakwe is departing the European champions fifteen years after joining the club.
The former England U20 international actually first trained with Chelsea youth team when he was six years old and has been there ever since before his permanent switch to Crewe Alexandra.
He enjoyed a taste of first team football during a loan spell at Accrington Stanley in 2020-2021 but didn't play much in the second half of the season due to a spate of injuries.
He was a member of the Chelsea U18 squad that won the domestic treble in the 2017-2018 campaign.
Writing on Instagram, Uwakwe said : "After 15 years its time for me to say goodbye to @chelseafc I want to thank everybody at the club for making those years the best experiences of my life, from members of staff to players that Ive grown up with my whole life and met along the way.
"I wish everybody there the best for the future. CFC family".
