Huddersfield ahead of Southampton in race for 20yo Chelsea attacking midfielder
Published: January 30, 2022
Huddersfield Town are reportedly in pole position ahead of Southampton to sign promising Chelsea attacking midfielder Faustino Anjorin in the January transfer window.
Football. London says the England U20 international of Nigerian descent is set to join the Terriers on loan for the remainder of the season.
Southampton had been linked with a move for Anjorin and it is looking likely any deal would only be achievable in the summer transfer window.
A decision was made by Chelsea to loan out the academy product again after their agreement with Lokomotiv Moscow was cut short due to the departure of Ralf Rangnick to Manchester United and an injury suffered by the player that saw him return to his parent club to receive treatment.
The Anglo-Nigerian has made one appearance under manager Thomas Tuchel and it came against Barnsley in the fifth round of the Emirates FA Cup last season.
Promising center-back of Nigerian descent Mustapha Olagunju, 20, plays for Huddersfield Town B.
