Dennis on target in Watford training game; Ekong, Etebo also feature before Super Eagles duty
Published: March 19, 2022Watford arranged an in-house training game on Saturday in order to keep the players fit ahead of the international break.
The Hornets were originally scheduled to face Everton in the Premier League on Sunday March 20 but the game has been postponed due to the Toffees qualifying for the quarterfinals of the Emirates FA Cup.
In the training game held at Watford's training ground in London Colney, all three players invited for the 2022 World Cup playoff against Ghana were given minutes.
Oghenekaro Etebo and Emmanuel Dennis played for the Watford team that wore the away kit and William Troost-Ekong was in the other team wearing the Hornets third kit.
Dennis was among the scorers during the training game, slotting home from close range after picking up a loose ball.
The match fitness of Etebo and Troost-Ekong has been discussed at length ahead of the back-to-back games with Ghana.
The midfielder has logged only seventeen minutes since the start of October after recovering from a quad issue and the central defender has been inactive since facing Tunisia at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
