UECL : Two Super Eagles stars fire blanks in Leicester City's goalless draw vs Madueke's PSV
Published: April 07, 2022
Kelechi Iheanacho could not produce the goals Thursday night for Leicester City in the first leg of their Europa Conference League quarterfinal clash against Dutch Eredivisie side PSV which ended goalless, reports allnigeriasoccer.com.
Super Eagles forward Iheanacho was involved in both actions, first dinking the ball beyond the PSV goalkeeper only to see the ball bobble narrowly wide.
The Nigerian then had an intricate exchange of passes with Harvey Barnes. The English youngster saw the ball eventually come off the crossbar and back into play before it was cleared.
Iheanacho was substituted in the 68th minute in place of his compatriot Ademola Lookman who only recently made his debut for the Nigeria senior national team.
England U-21 international of Nigerian descent Nonso Madueke operated from the right side of attack for PSV for 82 minutes and was a torn for Leicester defence. He was substituted by Portuguese international Bruma.
The first half was a 45 minutes that deserved goals but it was the defence of both teams that stood strong.
PSV threatened early on but it was Leicester City who finished the half stronger by creating two clear cut chances.
