Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye wore a special t-shirt paying tribute to legendary Dutch coach Louis van Gaal just before the start of the Eredivisie clash between Ajax Amsterdam and Sparta Rotterdam at Johan Cruijff ArenA on Saturday evening.
The Netherlands manager revealed last week that he's suffering from an aggressive form of prostrate cancer.
Van Gaal was among the spectators at the Johan Cruijff ArenA and watched two of his former clubs do battle.
The 70-year-old was on the books of Sparta Rotterdam for eight years during his playing career and also played for the second team of Ajax Amsterdam.
The Ajax and Sparta Rotterdam players stepped out on to the pitch with t-shirts carrying the message, 'get well soon Louis'.
Former Nigeria internationals Nwankwo Kanu, Finidi George, Tijani Babangida and Pius Ikedia played under Van Gaal in the Netherlands.
Apart from Ajax Amsterdam, the famous coach also managed some of the best teams of the world including Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Manchester United.
Ajax Amsterdam came from behind to beat Sparta 2-1 thanks to second half goals from Davy Klaassen and Dusan Tadic, with Okoye in goal for the Rotterdam outfit.
