Confirmed: New coach for Ukaki, Seriki and Nwachukwu at Sheffield United

Through the official website, Sheffield United have confirmed the return of Chris Wilder as head coach, with the experienced tactician signing a contract until the end of the 2026–27 season.

Wilder, who previously had two spells in charge of the Blades between 2016–2021 and 2023–2025, replaces Ruben Selles after a dismal start to the Championship campaign.

Selles was dismissed following six successive defeats in all competitions that left Sheffield United rooted to the foot of the table.

The former Southampton, Reading and Hull City boss lasted just 88 days in the role, with Friday's heavy 5-0 defeat at Ipswich Town proving the final straw for the club's hierarchy.

Wilder's third stint at Bramall Lane will see him work with Nigerian trio Ehije Ukaki, Christian Nwachukwu and Femi Seriki.

He is expected to take charge of the team for Saturday's Championship clash with Charlton Athletic.

Ukaki has struggled for playing opportunities this season, managing only 82 minutes in the Carabao Cup despite impressing in pre-season with goals against Ligue 1 side OGC Nice and League Two outfit Chesterfield.

Teenage winger Nwachukwu is still awaiting his first senior call-up since joining in the winter transfer window, while Seriki has featured more regularly, making four appearances, two of them starts, after being named in every matchday squad so far.
