Flying Eagles World Cup squad announcement: Man City, AS Trencin, Lillestrom starlets selected

The Nigeria Football Federation has confirmed a 20-man Flying Eagles squad for the 2025 FIFA U20 World Cup in Chile.

As previously reported by allnigeriasoccer.com, FK Gabala midfielder Salihu Nasiru and Wireless Academy prospect Tahir Maigana have both secured places in the travelling party to South America.

Manager Aliyu Zubairu has named three goalkeepers, six defenders, six midfielders and five forwards in his final roster.

Among the standout inclusions are Ebenezer Harcourt, Daniel Bameyi, Daniel Daga, Sani Suleiman and Kparobo Arierhi.

Manchester City’s Abdullahi Shitu Ele and Antwerp's Achichi Oseer also feature in the squad, which departed Abuja's Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on Sunday evening aboard a Turkish Airlines flight to Istanbul. 

The team will then connect to Santiago, where they are set to conclude their final phase of preparations ahead of the tournament.

The draw for the 2025 Fifa U20 World Cup placed Nigeria in Group F alongside Colombia, Saudi Arabia and Norway.

The seven-time African champions begin their group stage campaign against Norway on September 29 in Talca, with kickoff scheduled for 9pm (Nigerian time).

Ahead of their opening match against Norway, Nigeria will play friendly matches against Chile on September 20 and Australia on September 23.
