'I didn't hesitate' – Arokodare delighted to join Wolves despite supporting Man Utd
Published: September 15, 2025
Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare says he had no doubts about joining Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer, despite growing up as a Manchester United supporter.
The 24-year-old, who impressed with Belgian side KRC Genk last season, made his Premier League debut in Wolves' 1-0 defeat to Newcastle United at St. James' Park on Saturday.
Arokodare opened up about his move, revealing that he comes from a ‘family of Manchester United fans’ and that he and his three older brothers admired the likes of David Beckham, Ruud van Nistelrooy, and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Despite his admiration for the Red Devils, Arokodare insists the chance to move to England was too good to turn down.
"When Wolverhampton became concrete, I didn't hesitate for a second. No one had to convince me. Everyone also knew I absolutely wanted to go to the Premier League," he told Belgian outlet HLN, via Sports Witness.
"There might have been other rumours [AC Milan and Napoli], but in my head, I only wanted one thing.
"The Wolverhampton shirt already fits me like a glove. [Wolves are known for] using their strikers well. I'll benefit from that.”
Arokodare started against Newcastle United before being substituted just after the hour mark.
While his debut outing was quiet, the Nigerian forward will be eager to settle quickly under Vítor Pereira and prove his worth in the Premier League.
