Confirmed: Nigeria-eligible combative midfielder signs scholarship deal with West Ham
Published: June 05, 2022English Premier League club West Ham United have confirmed their new intake of academy scholars for the 2022-2023 season.
Nine promising players signed full-time Scholarship contracts with the Academy of Football, with five-time Hammer of the Year and Club legend Sir Trevor Brooking in attendance.
Allnigeriasoccer.com can now confirm that a second player of Nigerian descent is among the new intake of academy scholars.
Tyron Akpata joined left-footed striker Jemiah Umolu in signing a scholarship deal with the Hammers at the West Ham United Rush Green training ground.
Akpata was offered a scholarship on the back of his brilliant performances for West Ham U16s in 2021.
West Ham's official website describes him as a 'combative midfielder who is really good at connecting the game and brings a lot of energy'.
Akpata, who has been at West Ham since U15 level, will be hoping to make his debut in the U18 Premier League next season.
