Almeria chief confirms Super Eagles striker will be sold this summer for a little under N12.8b

Almeria CEO Mohamed El Assy has revealed that Nigeria international Umar Sadiq is on the brink of leaving the club.

El Assy has confirmed that the 2016 Olympics bronze medalist will be sold for a little less than 30 million euros (approximately N12.8 billion in Nigerian currency).

Sadiq has been linked with a possible move to La Liga club Villarreal in recent weeks while Sevilla are known to be long-term admirers of the striker.

The Nigerian was rumored to be on his way to Borussia Dortmund but the deal is unlikely to happen as the Black and Yellows have reached a verbal agreement with Cologne for the French striker Anthony Modeste.

Sadiq was not involved in Almeria's last pre-season friendly against Al-Hilal on Sunday.

Explaining why Sadiq wasn't in the squad, El Assy told Mundo Deportivo : "Umar Sadiq has not traveled to England to avoid any type of injury that could stop the transfer that is close at the moment.

"He will be sold for just under 30 million euros. "

Almeria's most expensive sale in their history is the 34 million euros they received from Benfica for Uruguay striker
 Darwin Núñez.

Since landing at the Rojiblancos from Partizan Belgrade in 2020, Sadiq has notched 41 goals in 81 all-competition appearances.
