Official : West Ham loan out another Irish-Nigerian striker to EFL club
Published: August 30, 2022
Few days after Mipo Odubeko left West Ham on loan in search of regular game time, a second Republic of Ireland youth international striker of Nigerian descent has been loaned out by the Premier League side to a Football League club.
Through their official website, West Ham announced on Tuesday that Armstrong Okoflex has joined EFL Championship side Swansea City on loan for the remainder of the 2022-2023 season, subject to international clearance.
West Ham's development squad star Mipo Odubeko signed for EFL League One side Port Vale for the 2022-2023 campaign.
Okoflex joined West Ham from Glasgow Celtic last summer and proved a big it in his first season at the club, scoring 18 goals in twenty nine appearances across all competitions to finish as the top scorer for the U21s.
The 20-year-old finally made his senior debut for the Hammers in Thursday's Europa Conference League playoff clash against Danish opponents Viborg, coming off the bench to replace Lanzini with eight minutes left on the clock.
Okoflex links up with cap-tied Republic of Ireland international of Nigerian descent Michael Obafemi and Manchester City-reared defender Nathanael Ogbeta at Swansea City.
The former Arsenal schoolboy has been assigned the number 21 shirt for the Swans ahead of a possible debut in Wednesday's Championship game against Stoke City.
