Snapped : Super Eagles star named in Ajax's traveling squad for UCL clash v Liverpool
Published: September 12, 2022Nigeria international Calvin Bassey has been named in Ajax Amsterdam's traveling squad heading to Merseyside for a UEFA Champions League clash against Liverpool.
The Dutch champions will take on the Premier League side in their second match of the group stage in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday evening, starting from 2000 hours Nigerian time.
Ajax manager Alfred Schreuder has selected twenty-four players for the trip to England, with Bassey part of the group.
The former Rangers star was substituted in the closing minutes of Ajax's 5-0 rout of SC Heerenveen at the weekend, leading to speculation that he was doubtful to face the Reds.
Schreuder made it clear post-match that his number 3 suffered only a knock after receiving a kick on his calf and was in contention to face Liverpool, which has come to pass, with the Super Eagles star pictured on the plane to Liverpool.

Bassey shone on his Champions League debut against Rangers and the highlight of his performance was providing the assist for his team's third goal scored by Mohammed Kudus in the 33rd minute.
The Leicester City academy product has helped Ajax post five consecutive clean sheets in all competitions.
