'I thought he was excellent' - QPR coach singles out Super Eagles-eligible midfielder for praise
Published: October 08, 2022Queens Park Rangers head coach Mick Beale has hailed Tim Iroegbunam following his outstanding performance during the Hoops' 2-1 win over Reading at Loftus Road on Friday night.
In what was his tenth senior appearance, the Super Eagles-eligible midfielder completed ninety minutes for the first time in his career.
Andy Carroll opened the scoring for the visitors in the 30th minute but Queens Park Rangers responded as Lyndon Dykes celebrated his 27th birthday by scoring a brace.
Dykes netted the game-winning goal in the 84th minute when he converted a penalty after Iroegbunam was brought down in the box.
In quotes related by West London Sport, Beale said post-match : "Ozzy I’m delighted for, coming on and getting the assist, Tim playing his first 90 minutes at Championship level and I thought he was excellent – gets us the penalty – but obviously tonight is about Lyndon."
Iroegbunam, 19, joined Queens Park Rangers on a season-long loan from Aston Villa on deadline day in search of regular game time., reuniting with Beale, with whom he worked with at Aston Villa.
The 2022 European U19 champion with England has helped the London club register three consecutive wins in the Championship.
