On-loan Gunner Balogun cleared to return to action after missing two games through injury
Published: January 11, 2023
Arsenal loanee Folarin Balogun is in the frame to be included in Stade de Reims' matchday squad when they take on Ajaccio in a French Ligue 1 match at Stade François Coty on Wednesday evening.
Caretaker manager of Stade de Reims, William Still has called up twenty one players for the trip to Ajaccio with one player expected to be dropped before the start of the game.
Balogun was named in the traveling squad after missing back-to-back matches - against Lille in the Ligue 1 and FC Loon-Plage in the Coupe de France.
The Hale End Academy graduate has received the green light from the Reims medical team to return to action after sitting out the last two games in all competitions due to a thigh injury.
Prior to his brief spell on the sidelines, he was unmoved about speculation surrounding his future as he netted his first career brace in his first game after the World Cup break to take his tally to ten for the season.
Only Paris Saint Germain superstars Kylian Mbappe (13) and Neymar (11) have scored more goals than Balogun in the French topflight so far this season.
Reims are unbeaten in nine straight Ligue 1 matches, winning three games and drawing six, with Balogun scoring half of their goals (5) during the period.
