Red-hot Hale End product Chuba Akpom nominated for three monthly awards
Published: January 12, 2023
Arsenal's Hale End Academy product Chuba Akpom is in the running for three monthly accolades following his outstanding performances in December 2022.
The red-hot Middlesbrough striker has been nominated for the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month award for December, PFA Player of the Month and Boro's Goal of the Month award.
Akpom went the distance in every single game played by Michael Carrick's team last month, four in total, and on a personal level the highlight of his performance was netting his first career league hat-trick in a 4-1 rout of Wigan Athletic on Boxing Day.
In addition to his treble against the Latics, the Super Eagles hopeful also wrote his name on the scoresheet in a 2-1 victory against Luton Town.
For the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month award, Akpom is up against Iliman Ndiaye (Sheffield United), Alex Palmer (West Bromwich Albion) and Joel Piroe (Swansea City).
In competition with Akpom for the PFA Player of the Month are Viktor Gyokeres (Coventry City), Amad Diallo, Ross Stewart (both Sunderland) and Iliman Ndiaye and James McAtee (both Sheffield United).
Akpom's goals against Luton Town and Wigan Athletic (3rd) are in the running for Boro's Goal of the Month, and the other players nominated are Marcus Forss and Riley McGree.
