Confirmed : Chelsea recall 19-year-old striker from loan spell
Published: January 13, 2023
With a statement on their official website, Chelsea have announced that promising striker Jayden Wareham has returned to the club following a loan at League Two club Leyton Orient.
The original agreement between both clubs would have kept the 19-year-old at Leyton Orient until the end of the 2022-2023 campaign.
Wareham has departed the East London club after making seven appearances in all competitions, with five of those in the League Two.
He struggled for playing opportunities during his time at the O's, having made the starting lineup just four times and was on the pitch for 366 minutes.
Wareham joined Chelsea from Woking towards the end of the 2020-2021 season following a successful trial.
The Berkshire native started his youth career at Queens Park Rangers academy before moving to Woking.
Since joining Chelsea, he has made appearances for their youth teams in the Premier League 2, Papa Johns Trophy, U18 Premier League, and UEFA Youth League.
Wareham has been invited to train with Chelsea's first team in the past but has yet to make his senior debut for the Blues.
