Chelsea get the ball rolling to sign Anglo-Nigerian wonderkid
Published: January 14, 2023
Premier League side Chelsea have opened official talks with PSV Eindhoven to sign Anglo-Nigerian wonderkid Nonso Madueke in the January transfer window.
According to PSV insider and Eindhovens Dagblad / AD Sportwereld journalist, Rik Elfrink, Chelsea have made an initial offer of 30 million euros to sign the 20-year-old right winger.
The news has also been confirmed by Fabrizio Romano who added that the Eindhoven club are open to selling the England U21 international this month if their conditions are met.
Chelsea are having a disappointing season, losing six of their last eight matches, and have been struggling to score goals.
The Blues are in the market for an attacker to provide competition for the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Kai Havertz, and Madueke is being targeted alongside France international Marcus Thuram.
If signed, Madueke should not have problems adapting to the Premier League considering he previously turned out for the youth teams of Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur.
Madueke, who is under contract until June 30, 2025, has directly participated in 34 goals in 79 outings since making his professional debut for PSV.
