Man Utd identify 2022 World Cup hat-trick hero as alternative to N74b-rated Osimhen
Published: January 18, 2023
Victor Osimhen is one of Manchester United's main transfer targets ahead of the summer transfer window but the Premier League giants may consider cheaper alternatives should they fail to acquire the Napoli frontman.
Sensational reports from the Italian press have suggested that Napoli will demand a fee of 130 million pounds (approximately N74 billion in Nigerian currency) from interested clubs.
The Daily Mail UK is reporting that Portugal international Goncalo Ramos has been identified as an alternative option for Manchester United.
The Benfica center forward has seen his stock rise in recent months after scoring on his international debut against Nigeria, before netting a hat-trick in Portugal's 6-1 rout of Switzerland in a round of 16 clash at the 2022 World Cup.
Ramos has directly participated in an impressive 24 goals (17 goals, 7 assists) in 26 all-competition appearances for Benfica so far this season.
The problem United will encounter in signing either Osimhen or Ramos is that they face competition from other big clubs, with Paris Saint-Germain and Newcastle United credited with an interest in the two strikers.
The Nigeria international has proved his goalscoring quality with eighteen goals for club and country since the end of last season.
