Confirmed : Nigerian winger who learned his trade at Chelsea departs Bolton for Germany
Published: January 19, 2023With a statement on their official website, German 2. Bundesliga club St. Pauli have announced the capture of former Chelsea schoolboy of Nigerian descent Dapo Afolayan.
St. Pauli and Afolayan's last club Bolton Wanderers have agreed not to disclose the financial terms of the contract.
The 25-year-old winger was on the books of Bolton Wanderers for two years, initially joining them on loan for the second half of the 2020-2021 season before the deal was made permanent at the end of the campaign.
Afolayan, who learned his trade at Chelsea, has also had spells with West Ham United, Oldham Athletic and Mansfield Town.
His other clubs include Toronto FC, Barnet, Tooting & Mitcham United, Toronto Varsity Blues, Loughborough University and Solihull Moors.
Afolayan departs Bolton Wanderers after scoring 21 goals and providing thirteen assists in 101 appearances across all competitions.
In his first words as a player of St. Pauli, Afolayan stated : "I'm happy to play for St. Pauli from now on. I think the team's style of play suits me.
"The talks with club officials also convinced me that the club attach great importance to developing their players.
"I'm looking forward to my new team, a new league and the new challenge".
Afolayan links up with former Flying Eagles holding midfielder Afeez Aremu at St. Pauli, who are fifteenth in the 2.Bundesliga table with seventeen points from seventeen matches.
