U20 AFCON : Flying Eagles coach makes roster decisions on two Arsenal starlets, Crystal Palace striker
Published: January 26, 2023
Allnigerisoccer.com can exclusively report with certainty that Arsenal duo Ovie Ejeheri and Joel Ideho, and Crystal Palace striker Ademola Ola-Adebomi will not become provisionally cap-tied to Nigeria at the Africa U20 Cup of Nations, which begins in Egypt on February 19, 2023.
Flying Eagles boss Ladan Bosso ran the rule over Ideho and Ola-Adebomi at the team's training camp in Abuja this week with a view to their inclusion in the squad list for the tournament in Egypt but the two talented teenagers did not make the grade.
Crystal Palace and Arsenal permitted the players to train with the Flying Eagles for three days after which a decision will be taken on whether or not to include them on the provisional squad list.
The two Premier League clubs are furious that Ideho and Ola-Adebomi are not on the list for the Africa Cup of Nations, and made it clear that training with the Flying Eagles was a waste of time.
Arsenal-owned goalkeeper Ejeheri, who recently completed a loan move to Finnish topflight club SJK Seinäjoki, is also not in the plans of Bosso after failing to show up in camp to prove his mettle.
Ideho and Ola-Adebomi are expected to fly back to the United Kingdom as from today, Thursday.
Bosso has insisted that he will work with the players in camp and has ruled out handing fresh call-ups before the team's departure for Morocco, where they will hold another training camp ahead of the AFCON.
