PL2 : Nigeria-eligible trio find the net as Crystal Palace, West Ham play out 6-goal thriller
Published: April 17, 2023Three players of Nigerian descent in the shape of Victor Akinwale, Ademola Ola-Adebomi and Armstrong Okoflex were on the scoresheet in a Premier League 2 clash between Crystal Palace and West Ham United on Monday.
The Young Lions battled to a 3-3 draw to stretch their unbeaten run to ten games in all competitions.
The Hammers established a two-goal lead midway through the first half courtesy of strikes from Kamarai Swyer and Luizão.
Ola-Adebomi halved the deficit in the 23rd minute when he struck the ball into the net from close range.
Kofi Balmer would make Palace's effort to restore parity more difficult when he was shown a straight red card after coming together with Divin Mubama.
Armstrong Okoflex restored West Ham's two-goal cushion three minutes into the second half with an effort from inside the box.
Akinwale restarted the young Eagles' quest of staging a comeback when he tapped in from close range from Ola-Adebomi's cross on the hour mark.
Fourteen minutes from time, Palace finally restored parity through Jack Wells-Morrison's penalty.
Victor Akinwale has now registered 6 goals and 2 assists in 22 appearances while Ola-Adebomi has bagged 8 goals and 1 assist in 17 appearances in the Premier League 2 respectively.
Other Nigeria-eligible players to feature for the young Eagles were David Uzoh and Tayo Adaramola who featured for 90 minutes Eagles while Franco Umeh-Chibueze came on as a late substitute.
