Middlesbrough slap N8.6b price tag on Akpom amid interest from Crystal Palace, German clubs
Published: May 21, 2023
Chuba Akpom's long term future at Middlesbrough hinged on their promotion to the Premier League.
The future of the Hale End Academy product at the Riverside Stadium will be the subject of speculation in the weeks ahead after their season ended with a 1-0 loss to Coventry City in the Championship playoff semifinals.
According to a Patreon report from Alan Nixon, via The 72, Middlesbrough fear bids will be coming in for star man Chuba Akpom this summer and will demand £15m (N8.6 billion in Nigerian currency) for his services.
The Super Eagles hopeful had the best season of his career in 2022-2023 after netting 29 goals from 42 appearances in all competitions.
He scooped the Championship Player of the Season at the EFL awards, and claimed Boro's Player of the Year and Players' Player of the Year.
As previously reported by allnigeriasocecr.com, Crystal Palace are keen on signing Akpom but face competition from clubs in Germany including Werder Bremen and Borussia Mönchengladbach.
The 27-year-old is now tied to Boro until June 2024 after the club activated the one-year option to extend his contract.
