Relegated Premier League club Southampton announced via their official website on Wednesday evening the hiring of Russell Martin ahead of the start of pre-season preparations.
The 37-year-old has left Swansea City to join Southampton, a year before the end of his contract with the Welsh club .
Martin has put pen to paper on a three-year contract with Southampton after they reached an agreement to secure his services..
He has worked with players of Nigerian descent in the past including Matthew Sorinola who played 76 games under him at Milton Keynes Dons and Swansea City.
David Kasumu played 47 matches under Martin during his time at MK Dons - the most under any coach since turning professional.
Both Aribo and Onuachu struggled for game under former Saints boss Rubén Sellés, with the striker starting just three matches in the Premier League following his January transfer from Racing Genk, while Aribo managed only two starts.
