Super Eagles striker attracting interest from Omonia Nicosia
Published: July 08, 2023Super Eagles attacker Olarenwaju Kayode is attracting interest from Cypriot First Division club Omonia Nicosia this summer.
According to Sportime, Omonia Nicosia are aiming to strengthen their attack for the 2023-2024 season and Kayode is high on their wishlist.
Kayode spent the second half of last season on loan at Turkish club Ümraniyespor, for whom he scored three goals in eleven appearances in the Super Lig.
His future at Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donetsk is unclear as his contract was due to run out on June 30, 2023, and the striker has not figured for the club since May 2019.
Kayode enjoyed back-to-back loan spells at Gaziantep FK and Sivasspor before heading to Ümraniyespor, making 124 appearances combined for the three Turkish clubs and scoring 32 goals.
The 30-year-old also lists Manchester City, FC Luzern, Maccabi Netanya, Austria Vienna and Girona among his previous clubs.
Kayode was a key player for Nigeria's youth teams before making his senior debut for the Super Eagles in a friendly against Senegal in March 2017.
Super Eagles first choice goalkeeper under Jose Peseiro, Francis Uzoho has been on the books of Omonia Nicosia since 2021.
