Reading considering move for Nigerian midfielder who learned his trade at Tottenham
Published: July 15, 2023
League One club Reading are mulling over a move for English-born Nigerian player Luke Amos, according to reports.
Football League World making reference to Darren Witcoop claims the Royals are keeping tabs on the Tottenham Hotspur-reared central midfielder.
The 26-year-old was a player of Tottenham Hotspur for a decade, rising through the ranks before making his senior debut for the north London club in a Premier League meeting with Newcastle United on the opening day of the 2018-19 season.
Amos is currently unemployed following his release by Queens Park Rangers upon the expiry of his contract at the end of last month.
Reading are in the market for at least one midfielder this summer, with Jay Senga making only one appearance for the first team to date and the future of former Golden Eaglets invitee Ovie Ejaria up in the air having been starved of playing time last season.
Amos has played in the League One before, making three appearances for Southend United whilst on loan from Tottenham Hotspur.
Despite his injury troubles during his time at Queens Park Rangers, he logged 95 games in all competitions for the Hoops, scoring eight goals.
