Anderlecht leapfrog Barcelona in race to sign Chelsea's Cobham product of Nigerian descent
Published: July 25, 2023Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the tussle between Anderlecht and Barcelona for the signing of Chelsea's Cobham product Tudor Mendel-Idowu.
Romano in his report on his Twitter timeline on Tuesday morning revealed that Anderlecht have moved ahead of Barcelona in the pursuit of the Flying Eagles-eligible winger.
Mendel-Idowu had already agreed on personal terms with Barcelona but seems to be on the verge of moving to Belgium.
While it was clear that the Chelsea winger would join the second string of Barcelona, it remains to be seen if he will be joining Anderlecht's first team.
The talented teenager was offered a new deal by Chelsea but he's set to embark on a new chapter in his career as things stand.
Tudor Mendel-Idowu is known for his versatility with his ability to play out wide and as a central forward but has played predominantly as a right winger.
He has grown in leaps and bounds since moving to Cobham and made his debut for Chelsea's development side last season when he made a cameo appearance in the Papa Johns trophy.
