Report: Crystal Palace confident of fending off Chelsea and Man City interest in Olise
Published: July 29, 2023
Crystal Palace are reportedly set to turn down the advances of Manchester City and Chelsea for Michael Olise.
According to Football Insider, the Eagles are confident of fending off the interest of the two English giants for their young forward.
Manchester City and Chelsea are interested in the services of the Super Eagles-eligible forward and have been encouraged by the 35 million pounds release clause in his new contract.
However, Crystal Palace are talking to Olise's representatives about a new agreement that will expunge the clause from his existing contract.
The South-London-based side have lost Wilfried Zaha this summer and are desperate to keep the French youth International.
This could be bad news for the Citizens who want the exciting winger to replace the departed Riyad Mahrez and also for the Blues that want him to bolster their attacking options going into the new season.
The 21-year-old registered 13 goal contributions last season, which is the most he has recorded in a single season since moving to Selhurst Park.
He is set to miss the start of the season due to the injury he picked up while on international duty with France at the U21 European Championship
