Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has shared fresh insight into the future of Arsenal wonderkid Ethan Nwaneri ahead of the new season.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano revealed that Nwaneri is eager to remain at the Emirates Stadium, despite growing speculation linking Arsenal with moves for Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke.
Both Eze and Madueke—who are eligible to represent Nigeria but opted to play for England—have emerged as targets for the Gunners as Mikel Arteta looks to reinforce his attacking options, particularly in wide areas.
While Nwaneri is keen to continue his development at Arsenal, Romano noted that the highly rated attacking midfielder is seeking assurances over playing time before committing his future to the club.
"Arsenal are in active talks with the agent of Ethan Nwaneri. The player is still keen on staying at Arsenal," Romano revealed.
"After Myles Lewis-Skelly, Arsenal always wanted to extend the contract of Ethan Nwaneri.
"There are some discussions to be held on game time. Because obviously, Eberechi Eze, Noni Madueke, and Arsenal are working on several profiles.
"So, on the players' camp, they want to understand what Arsenal's plan is for the boy for the upcoming season before putting pen to paper.
"But the conversation remains active and positive with Ethan Nwaneri keen on staying at Arsenal. But also seeking some guarantee in terms of playing time and plans before putting pen to paper."
Nwaneri enjoyed an impressive 2024/2025 season with the Gunners, netting nine goals and contributing two assists in 37 appearances across all competitions.
With pre-season around the corner, the Hale End Academy graduate will be hopeful of securing a contract extension at Arsenal—along with the game time and assurances needed to continue his development.
The coming weeks could be decisive in determining whether Nwaneri will remain with his boyhood club or seek opportunities elsewhere.
