Plymouth Argyle weighing up move for 2013 Golden Eaglets invitee
Published: January 16, 2024
EFL Championship outfit Plymouth Argyle have been linked with a move for 2013 Golden Eaglets invitee Ovie Ejaria.
According to Football Insider, The Pilgrims are weighing up a move for former Liverpool and Arsenal youth teamer Ejaria.
Ejaria is currently unemployed and can sign for a new club even after the close of the January transfer window having mutually terminated his contract with Reading last month.
Once tipped as a future Super Eagles player, the Hale End Academy product has fallen off the radar in recent years due to fitness problems that have limited his appearances to eight since the start of the 2022-2023 campaign.
Plymouth Argyle are looking to sign the London-born Nigerian midfielder on a free transfer following the departures of Finn Azaz and Luke Cundle who joined Middlesbrough and Stoke City respectively.
Ejaria has some Championship experience, clocking up 135 games combined for Sunderland and Reading, scoring 10 goals and registering 13 assists.
The 26-year-old was a member of the Young Lions squad to the 2017 Fifa U20 World Cup, alongside Super Eagles dazzler Ademola Lookman, Golden Ball winner Dominic Solanke, Sheyi Ojo, Josh Onomah and Fikayo Tomori.
Plymouth Argyle occupy the 19th position in the Championship table with 30 points from twenty-seven matches.
