Proposed transfer of Arsenal alum Akinola to C.F. Estrela da Amadora falls through

Allnigeriasoccer.com has been told that Arsenal alum Tim Akinola's proposed transfer to Portuguese setup C.F. Estrela da Amadora has fallen through.
The 2022 Nigeria's Olympic National Team invitee was due to travel to Portugal on Wednesday, January 31 to formalize his switch to C.F. Estrela da Amadora but the deal has collapsed.
C.F. Estrela da Amadora had agreed to sign the central midfielder but the Primeira Liga club informed him the deal was off just as he was about to board a plane to Portugal.
Akinola had terminated his contract with Qatari club Al Bidda SC that would have allowed him join C.F. Estrela da Amadora as a free agent.
Had the deal gone through, the 22-year-old would have appended his signature to a two-year contract with option for an additional year.
Born in Kogi State, Nigeria, Akinola started his career in England with Lincoln City, from where he moved to Huddersfield Town, before transferring to Arsenal in 2020.
As an Arsenal player, he enjoyed loan spells at Dundee United and Chesterfield, making 32 appearances combined for both clubs, including the National League playoffs final versus Notts County in May 2023.
