Nigeria winger misses out on Chelsea Goal of the Month award for fifth month in a row
Published: March 08, 2024
London born Nigerian winger Tyrique George has missed out on Chelsea's Goal of the Month award for the fifth consecutive month.
George was also shortlisted for the award in October, November, December, and January but failed to secure the monthly accolade.
The official website of Chelsea informed on Friday that Ezno Fernandez's free-kick against Aston Villa has been chosen by supporters as Chelsea's Goal of the month for February.
George had been nominated for the February Goal of the Month award alongside Ezno Fernandez, Erin Cuthbert, Mayra Ramirez, Conor Gallagher, Raheem Sterling, Jimmy-Jay Morgan and Nicolas Jackson
Against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in the fifth round of the FA Youth Cup, George doubled the advantage in the 68th minute when he collected the ball outside the penalty area and unleashed a shot that gave the Eagles goalkeeper no chance.
His goal against the Eagles didn't make it to the top four, as Conor Gallagher and Mayra Ramirez's goals against Crystal Palace tied for second place with six percent of the votes.
Raheem Sterling came fourth for his composed finish against former club Manchester City with five percent of the votes.
George has netted a total of fifteen goals across all competitions for Chelsea's youth teams this season, including six in the U18 Premier League, eight in cup competitions, and one in the Premier League 2.
