PL2: Super kid Nwaneri rescues Arsenal from the jaws of defeat against Tottenham Hotspur
Published: March 08, 2024
Anglo-Nigerian midfielder Ethan Nwaneri scored for Arsenal U21s in their 1-1 draw with North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in a Premier League 2 clash played at Meadow Park on Friday night.
Jude Soonsup-Bell opened the scoring for Tottenham in the 37th minute after the home side failed to clear their lines from a corner kick.
The goal from the former England U19 striker was the difference between both sides for most of the contest until Nwaneri drew level for Arsenal on the stroke of the normal regulation time.
Kabia delivered a cross into the penalty area and the 16-year-old was in the right place to flick the ball home.
He also got an opportunity during the stoppage time to get the winner for Mehmet Ali's side but had his attempt saved by the goalkeeper.
With his strike tonight, Nwaneri has now netted seven goals in nine appearances in the Premier League 2 this term and has taken his goal involvement to 17 across all competitions.
The Premier League record-breaking midfielder, Ovie Ejeheri and Nathan Butler-Oyedeji featured for the entire duration of the game.
